NBA / sample mid-season coverageAndrei Kirilenko -F- Jazz Mar. 5 - 2:00pm Andrei Kirilenko's MRI on his hip was negative, but he'll sit out Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. He's also doubtful for Friday and C.J. Miles will start in his place tonight. Source: Deseret News Chris Andersen -F/C- Hornets Mar. 5 - 1:45pm The Hornets signed Chris Andersen to a one-year, prorated $3.5 million contract on Tuesday. Andersen is back with the Hornets after a two-year ban due to substance abuse. He's not expected to play against the Hawks tonight, but will likely make his season debut this weekend. He'll most likely help Melvin Ely back up PF David West. Tracy McGrady -G/F- Rockets Mar. 5 - 12:45pm Tracy McGrady thinks Dirk Nowitzki's Flagrant-1 penalty against Andrei Kirilenko should be changed to a Flagrant-2, which would mean that Dirk would be suspended for Thursday's game against the Rockets. "He should be (suspended)," McGrady said. "That was a pretty hard foul. Not only that, to slam a guy to the ground like that, it was a hard foul. It should have been a flagrant-2." Dirk is not going to take kindly to T-Mac throwing his two cents in, but there appears to be a 50-50 chance the NBA could hit Nowitzki with the F-2 that would cause him to be suspended. Stay tuned. That'd put him on target to make his spring debut on March 17 and give him a chance to be ready for Opening Day. "Obviously, everything has to keep going right like it has gone so far," Lidge said. "But if it does, I'm still assuming and being optimistic about the start of the season." Ellis and C Gabriel Gutierrez to minor league camp. The additions of Mike Myers and Tom Martin prevented Shackelford from getting any sort of look. Simon never even made it to major league camp due to visa troubles in the Dominican Republic. Source: Los Angeles Daily News NFL / sample off-season coverageBrian Kelly -DB- Buccaneers Mar. 5 - 2:27pm The Lions are hosting free agent DBs Brian Kelly and Kalvin Pearson on Wednesday. It was only a matter of time before Kelly came to town. It'll be a big upset if he doesn't land with the team. Pearson is a backup caliber safety. Source: Detroit Free Press Tab Perry -WR- Bengals Mar. 5 - 2:14pm Free agent WR Tab Perry will return to Cincinnati to meet with team officials Wednesday. The Bengals declined to tender Perry as a restricted free agent, but would take him back for less than $927,000. They're competing against Miami, Green Bay, and Baltimore for the special teamer.
